"Considerare le persone non da un ritratto, ma dall'atomosfera di un luogo.

Elena si sofferma su ambientazioni e oggetti, che sembrano essere i protagonisti della vita. Le persone mettono gli oggetti al centro della loro esistenza; diventano metafore della loro identità. Qui le stanze del paese Apice, in provincia di Benevento (IT) in Campania, abbandonato dopo due terremoti, uno negli anni '60, l'altro negli anni '80. Le stanze conservano il segno della vita delle persone perché i pochi oggetti rimasti - mobili, come una poltrona o un materasso arrotolato al centro di una camera da letto - hanno un forte potere evocativo e ancora oggi si possono identificare i luoghi dove gli occupanti della casa mangiavano, dormivano e si sedevano intorno a un tavolo da pranzo. È così che la fotografia rivela la sua capacità di percepire le atmosfere per presentarvele cariche di nuovo significato."

"Considering people not by a portait but by the atmosphere of a place. She lingers over settings and objects, that seem to be the protagonists of life. People place the objects at the center of their existence; they become metaphors for their identity. Here the rooms of the village Apice, in the province of Benevento (IT) in Campania that was abandoned after two earthquakes, one in the 1960s, the other in the 1980s. The rooms preserve the sign of people's lives because the few remaining objects - pieces of forniture, such as an armchair or a rolled-up mattress in the center of a bedroom -have a strongly evocative and power and still today you can identify the places where the occuppants of the house ate, slept and sat around a dining-table. It is in this way  that the photography reveals its capacity for sensing atmosphere in order to present them to you charged with new meaning."
